An open letter
From Our Founder, Cole
I’ve always believed we are all beautiful amalgamations — constellations of experiences, identities, contradictions, and quiet truths that refuse to fit into a single box. Divergent Kind was never built from one identity, one moment, or one narrative arc. It was built from the many.
I am a veteran.
I am an entrepreneur.
I am queer.
I am ADHD‑wired.
I am a thousand other things that don’t always have names.
But none of these pieces alone define me. They simply sit beside one another, shaping the way I see the world, the way I love people, and the way I build community. I’ve learned — sometimes gently, sometimes through fire — that the secret to life is unconditional love for self. Not the polished version. Not the “high‑functioning” version. The whole, complicated, contradictory self.
Divergent Kind exists because I believe every person deserves that kind of love. The kind that doesn’t demand you shrink. The kind that doesn’t ask you to choose which part of yourself is “acceptable.” The kind that lets you be a full spectrum human in a world that often prefers grayscale.
So if you’ve ever felt like too much or not enough, like you’re made of mismatched pieces or shifting identities, know this: you’re in good company here. I built this space for all of us — the beautifully divergent, the quietly powerful, the ones still learning how to belong to themselves.
This brand is my love letter to you.
To us.
To the many pieces that make us whole.
